Mary Jane's education in design and jewelry making includes a B.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art, courses at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and employment in the jewelry industry as both a jeweler and production manager. She has also taught silversmithing to high school students and is an avid gardener.
Mary Jane has been marketing this sculptural line of garden jewelry since 1983. Each handcrafted piece is made by cutting shapes from sheets of sterling silver. Texture is added by roller-printing, then form is achieved by hammering and handbending. Each piece is signed and inscribed with the plant's name and comes with a card that describes how it was made.
