| Hot Flashes, a Glass Studio
Washington
All glass is individually hand cut. The images are cut from thin copper with a pair of scissors or x-acto knife. The heat from the firing turns the copper to a deep rich red. Gail says, "I design each piece as I go along, therefore, no two light catchers are ever the same. I usually hold an image in my mind, such as Raven, and then simply begin to create. This gives a freshness to each item and a feeling of joy for me as I work."
She has a painting and printmaking background from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland follwed by a BFA in the early 70's. |
