Barb has been designing clothing for more than 30 years, focusing on intricate marbling designs on silk, leather and paper since 1996.
Marbling is a printing technique typically performed on paper. It is known to have been used in Japan and possibly China in the 12th century. Marbling is performed by floating ink on a thickened water mixture. The pattern is created by running a comblike tool through the ink floating of the surface. Fabric is then laid on top of the pattern and lifted, transferring the print. Only one print is possible per inking, making each pattern unique.
